New program aims to boost kidney donations through patient support

NCT ID NCT04666545

Summary

This study is testing a support program designed to help people with kidney failure find potential living kidney donors. Kidney transplants from living donors offer better survival and quality of life than dialysis, but many patients struggle to ask family or friends. The program provides education and communication coaching over three months. Researchers are comparing this new support to the current standard social worker assessment to see if it helps more patients start the donor evaluation process.
