Scientists seek to rescue discarded livers with new viability test
NCT ID NCT03694691
Summary
This study aims to create a new scoring system to help doctors decide if a donated liver is healthy enough for transplant. Researchers will collect small tissue samples from 60 transplant patients to analyze how the liver's genes and chemicals relate to its function after surgery. The goal is to develop a reliable test that could allow more donated livers to be safely used, potentially reducing transplant wait times.
