Liver's hidden role in preventing 'Hardening' of blood vessels
NCT ID NCT03576859
Summary
This study aimed to understand how a failing liver might contribute to harmful mineral deposits in blood vessels, a common problem in some diseases. Researchers measured a natural substance in the blood of 38 patients before and after their liver transplant. They wanted to see if a healthy liver produces more of this protective substance, which could explain why people with liver disease often have more vascular problems.
