New hope for bile duct cancer: liver transplant after targeted radiation and chemo

NCT ID NCT06910722

First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tests whether a liver transplant after a special type of radiation (SIRT) and chemotherapy can help people with advanced bile duct cancer that cannot be removed by surgery but hasn't spread. About 36 adults aged 18 to 65 in France will receive the treatment and be followed for 3 years to see if they live longer. The goal is to control the disease, not to cure it, as lifelong anti-rejection medication is needed after transplant.
