Sedative drug tested as shield for transplanted livers

NCT ID NCT05031026

Summary

This study is testing if a drug called dexmedetomidine, given during surgery, can protect a newly transplanted liver from damage. The goal is to see if this protection helps the new liver work better right away and reduces other complications like kidney or lung problems after the operation. The trial involves 60 adults receiving a liver from a living donor.
