New study aims to reduce bleeding risk in High-Stakes liver transplants

NCT ID NCT07304466

Summary

This study aims to see which of two drugs, terlipressin or somatostatin, works better to lower dangerously high blood pressure in the liver's main vein during a living donor liver transplant. Researchers will measure how much each drug reduces this pressure, and whether this leads to less bleeding and fewer blood transfusions during the surgery. The study will involve 50 patients with severe liver disease who are scheduled for this type of transplant.
