First seen Feb 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study followed 574 adults hospitalized with end-stage liver disease to see if alcoholic patients face unfair barriers to getting on the national liver transplant waiting list. Researchers tracked who was registered for a transplant and compared it to their doctors' opinions. The goal was to find out if non-medical reasons limit access for alcoholic patients.
