NCT ID NCT07326865

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at how the liver responds to sugar in people with obesity, both with and without a liver condition called MASLD. During planned bariatric surgery, participants receive either a sugar solution or salt water through a vein. Small tissue samples from the liver and fat are taken before and after to see how genes change. The goal is to better understand why MASLD develops and how the liver reacts to sugar, which could lead to new treatments.
