First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at how the liver responds to a sugar injection during weight-loss surgery in 40 obese adults, some with fatty liver disease (MASLD) and some without. Researchers take small liver and fat samples before and after giving sugar or salt water to see which genes turn on or off. The goal is to learn why MASLD develops and find new ways to treat it.
