Blood test could spot deadly infection, save liver patients

NCT ID NCT07024355

Summary

This study aims to test a simple scoring system that uses a patient's age and routine blood test results to predict a dangerous abdominal infection called SBP in people with liver cirrhosis. The goal is to provide a faster way to identify patients who need urgent antibiotic treatment, without always needing a more invasive fluid-drawing procedure. If successful, this could help doctors start life-saving treatment sooner for these high-risk patients.
