Summary

This study tests whether giving hospitalized heavy drinkers a liver stiffness scan and personalized alcohol counseling can reduce future emergency hospital visits. 500 adults at risk of alcohol-related liver disease will be randomly assigned to get this extra support or usual care. Researchers will track hospital records for 2 years to see if the proactive approach leads to fewer emergencies and better health.
