NCT ID NCT07189650

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will test whether ultrasound can measure liver fat as accurately as MRI in 30 adults with fatty liver disease. Participants will have both an ultrasound and an MRI scan. The goal is to see if ultrasound, which is cheaper and faster, could be a reliable alternative for diagnosis.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors use ultrasound instead of MRI to measure liver fat, making diagnosis easier and cheaper.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early pilot study with only 30 people. It is exploratory, so results may not lead to immediate changes in practice.
