Safer scan could replace risky biopsy for liver donors

NCT ID NCT07451379

Summary

This study aims to see if a quick, non-invasive scan (FibroScan) can be as accurate as a standard liver biopsy for measuring fat in the livers of potential living donors. Researchers will compare results from both tests in 100 adult donors to determine if the scan is a reliable alternative. The goal is to find a safer screening method that avoids the risks of biopsy, like bleeding and infection, to help expand the pool of healthy donors.
