New drug trial aims to halt liver damage in genetic disease

Summary
This study is testing a drug called fazirsiran for people with liver disease caused by Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. The drug aims to reduce the buildup of an abnormal protein that causes liver scarring. About 50 adults with early-stage liver scarring will receive either the drug or a placebo for two years to see if it safely slows or stops disease progression.
