Blood test study seeks clues in liver disease

Summary

This study looks at levels of a specific cholesterol-related substance (4beta-hydroxycholesterol) in people with liver cirrhosis. Researchers will compare these levels with those in patients with pneumonia, Crohn's disease, or ulcerative colitis. The goal is to understand how cirrhosis and its medications affect this marker. About 120 participants are being recruited from Oulu University Hospital.
