Can regular doctors match experts at heart scans for liver patients?
NCT ID NCT03650660
Summary
This study aimed to see if gastroenterologists (liver doctors) with standard training could perform heart ultrasounds as well as intensive care experts for patients with advanced liver cirrhosis and fluid retention. Researchers compared measurements of heart function between the two types of doctors. The study was terminated early and enrolled 55 adult patients admitted to the hospital with fluid buildup due to their liver disease.
