Medical showdown: two procedures battle to stop deadly liver bleeding
NCT ID NCT07490405
Summary
This study compares two different medical procedures for people with advanced liver disease who experience dangerous bleeding from swollen veins in their stomach and esophagus. Researchers will follow 140 patients to see whether surgery to remove the spleen and reroute blood flow works better than a less invasive procedure that creates a new blood vessel channel inside the liver. The main goal is to determine which treatment causes fewer brain function problems while better controlling bleeding and improving survival over the long term.
