Targeted radiation blast tested for tough liver tumors
NCT ID NCT06332079
Summary
This study tested a two-part treatment for colorectal cancer that had spread only to the liver and could not be surgically removed. First, doctors delivered a precise dose of radiation directly to the liver tumors using tiny radioactive beads (Holmium-166 TARE). Patients then continued with a lighter 'maintenance' drug therapy. The goal was to see if this approach could keep the cancer from growing for a longer period.
