New gel could boost liver cancer treatment – trial underway

Summary
This study tests a new temperature-sensitive gel that is used during a procedure called TACE to treat liver cancer. The gel is mixed with chemotherapy drugs and injected into the tumor's blood supply to block it and deliver drugs directly. The trial will compare this new gel to a standard gelatin sponge in 216 adults with liver cancer to see if it controls the disease better.
