Could a quick scan replace the needle for liver donor checks?

NCT ID NCT07451379

First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study will check if a special ultrasound scan (FibroScan with CAP) can accurately measure fat in the liver without needing a needle biopsy. About 100 potential liver donors will get both tests, and the scan results will be compared to the standard biopsy. If the scan works well, it could make donor evaluation faster and less invasive.
