NCT ID NCT03856632
First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tests whether liraglutide, a medication that reduces fat and promotes weight loss, can shrink the fat deposits around the heart and help stabilize heart rhythm in people with atrial fibrillation (AFib). About 60 adults with AFib and a BMI of 27 or higher will receive liraglutide alongside their planned catheter ablation procedure. The goal is to see if reducing this heart fat can improve the long-term success of the ablation.
