Blood test may predict which lung cancer patients respond to immunotherapy
NCT ID NCT04790682
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing whether a liquid biopsy (a blood test that looks for tumor DNA) can predict how well immunotherapy works in people with advanced lung cancer. Researchers will track changes in ctDNA levels from before treatment to six weeks after, and see if those changes match tumor shrinkage on scans. The goal is to find a quick, non-invasive way to tell if the treatment is working, so patients can get the most effective care sooner.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
liquid biopsy (ctDNA testing)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors quickly identify which lung cancer patients will benefit from immunotherapy, avoiding ineffective treatments.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The test may not accurately predict responses, and results may not apply to all patients.
