Blood test may uncover hidden cancers in patients with rare nerve disease

NCT ID NCT07491328

First seen Mar 31, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special blood test (liquid biopsy) can find cancer cells in people with paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS), a condition where the immune system attacks the nerves due to an undetected tumor. Researchers will collect blood from 60 participants, including those with PNS and a known tumor, those with PNS but no known tumor, and cancer patients without PNS. The goal is to see if the test can spot tumor DNA and help diagnose cancer earlier.
