Spine surgery study aims to unlock brain tumor detection via blood test

NCT ID NCT07224451

First seen Nov 05, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study explores whether briefly opening the blood-brain barrier during spine surgery can release brain tumor markers into the blood, making them easier to detect with a simple blood test. About 20 adults having spine surgery for spinal tumors will take part. Researchers will compare markers in the blood and spinal fluid to see if this approach works.
