Bile test could spot bile duct cancer without needle biopsy
NCT ID NCT06416397
First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study is testing a new way to diagnose cholangiocarcinoma, a type of bile duct cancer, by analyzing proteins in bile fluid instead of taking a tissue sample. Researchers will collect bile from 200 adults with bile duct narrowing during a routine endoscopic procedure. They will compare the protein-based diagnosis with standard tissue biopsy results to see if the bile test is accurate.
