One shot to beat pain: new study could simplify ankle surgery recovery
NCT ID NCT06995352
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study compares a single injection of liposomal bupivacaine (a long-lasting painkiller) to a continuous nerve block (which uses a pump and tube) for pain after ankle surgery. About 140 adults having moderate-to-severely painful ankle surgery will take part. The goal is to see if the single injection controls pain and reduces opioid use just as well, without the hassle of carrying a pump.
