Blood filtering tested to protect dialysis patients from heart attacks and strokes

NCT ID NCT07390604

Summary

This small study tested a blood filtering procedure called DFPP in five kidney dialysis patients who had very high levels of lipoprotein(a) and a history of heart disease or blood clots. Researchers wanted to see if regularly filtering their blood could lower this harmful substance and potentially reduce their risk of future cardiovascular problems. They measured lipoprotein(a) levels before and after each treatment session and tracked any heart or clotting events.
