First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether taking a daily dose of alpha lipoic acid, a natural supplement, could reduce the return of cystine kidney stones in people with cystinuria. Fifty adults were randomly assigned to receive either the supplement or a placebo for three years. The main goal was to see if the supplement lowered the number of new stones or stone-related symptoms.
