First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study compares two types of intravenous fat emulsions (mixed oil vs. soybean oil) in extremely premature infants (born before 28 weeks or weighing ≤1000g). The goal is to see which one better prevents a serious lung condition called bronchopulmonary dysplasia and supports normal brain development at age two. About 230 babies will be enrolled shortly after birth and followed for two years.
