New pill could offer hope amid syphilis and penicillin shortage crisis

NCT ID NCT05548426

Summary

This study is testing whether an oral antibiotic called linezolid can effectively treat early syphilis. It aims to provide an alternative to the standard penicillin shot, which can be hard to get or administer. The trial involves 24 adults with early syphilis, including some with well-controlled HIV, to see if the pill works as well as the shot.
