New hope for Tots' tummy troubles: drug trial targets childhood constipation

Summary
This study tested whether a medication called linaclotide is safe and effective for treating chronic constipation in very young children, aged 2 to 5 years. About 123 children participated. For the first 12 weeks, some received the drug and others received a placebo (a pill with no medicine), followed by a 24-week period where all children could receive the active drug to check long-term safety.
