Zapping eyelash mites with light: new trial tests High-Tech treatment

NCT ID NCT07169461

Summary

This study is testing whether two types of light therapy—blue light and intense pulsed light—can reduce the number of mites living on eyelashes in people with Demodex blepharitis. Researchers in Thailand will enroll 88 adults with this condition and randomly assign them to receive one of the light treatments, both combined, or a sham (fake) treatment. The main goal is to see if these light sessions, given weekly for a month, lower the mite count and improve eye comfort compared to standard eyelid cleaning alone.
