NCT ID NCT06797583
First seen Dec 08, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tests if shining a special light on the head (transcranial photobiomodulation) can improve thinking skills in children with sickle cell disease. The brain needs steady oxygen, which is often reduced in sickle cell disease, leading to learning problems. About 60 children aged 8-17 will be randomly assigned to receive either active light therapy or a placebo to see if it helps brain function and oxygen levels.
