Shining a light on mouth disease: new scan aims to spot problems early

NCT ID NCT00540774

Summary

This study aims to develop better, non-invasive ways to detect and understand oral diseases using light-based imaging. Researchers will scan the mouths of 2,500 people with various conditions (like gum disease, sores, or cancer) and healthy volunteers. They will compare these new optical scans to standard diagnostic methods to see if light can accurately spot and map out disease.
