First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether low-intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU) can safely target a deep brain region (the thalamus) in people with treatment-resistant schizophrenia. Only 3 participants were enrolled, and the main goal was to see if the procedure was feasible and tolerable. The study is currently suspended, so results are limited.
