Diet and exercise trial aims to close 10-Year life gap for people with serious mental health conditions
NCT ID NCT07085923
Summary
This study is testing whether a 6-month lifestyle program can help reduce heart disease risk in people with severe mental illnesses like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. About 70 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the program (monthly diet counseling and exercise sessions) plus their usual mental health care, or just their usual care alone. The goal is to see if this support helps improve physical health, lifestyle habits, and quality of life for this vulnerable group.
