Common anesthetic drug tested to stop dangerous procedure complication
NCT ID NCT05667987
Summary
This study is testing if adding the common anesthetic lidocaine to standard anesthesia can prevent pancreatitis (painful pancreas inflammation) after an ERCP procedure. About 1800 patients will be randomly assigned to receive anesthesia with or without lidocaine, while all receive standard preventive medication. The main goal is to see if the lidocaine group has fewer cases of this serious complication.
