Numbing drug tested to ease pain and speed healing after bariatric surgery
NCT ID NCT03211455
Summary
This study tested if giving a numbing medicine called lidocaine during weight loss surgery helps patients recover faster. Researchers compared lidocaine to a placebo in 180 patients having bariatric surgery. They measured how much strong pain medicine patients needed afterward, their pain levels, and how quickly they could leave the hospital.
