Heart scans may predict sepsis survival

NCT ID NCT07562217

First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at whether special heart ultrasound measurements can better predict serious problems or death in people with sepsis in the ICU. About 200 adults from hospitals in Australia, Hong Kong, South Africa, and Canada will take part. Researchers will compare standard heart tests with newer ones that account for blood flow and pressure. No new treatments are given; the goal is to improve how doctors monitor and predict outcomes for sepsis patients.
