Summary
This trial tests whether a higher starting dose of levothyroxine, a thyroid hormone replacement, helps newborns with congenital hypothyroidism reach normal thyroid function faster than a moderate dose. About 100 full-term infants diagnosed at birth are randomly assigned to one of two dose levels, and their thyroid levels are checked every two weeks for the first six weeks. The goal is to see which dose more quickly and safely brings thyroid hormone levels into a healthy range, which is important for normal brain development.
