This trial tests whether a higher starting dose of levothyroxine, a thyroid hormone replacement, helps newborns with congenital hypothyroidism reach normal thyroid function faster than a moderate dose. About 100 full-term infants diagnosed at birth are randomly assigned to one of two dose levels, and their thyroid levels are checked every two weeks for the first six weeks.
