Parkinson's drug tested as potential new weapon against leading cause of blindness
NCT ID NCT03023059
Summary
This study tested whether a common Parkinson's disease pill (carbidopa-levodopa) could help people with 'wet' age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a major cause of vision loss. Researchers gave the drug to 35 participants who were also receiving standard eye injections, to see if it was safe and if it could improve vision or reduce the need for injections. The goal was to see if this oral medication could offer a new way to help control the disease.
