Less is more: tiny blood draws may protect preemie lungs
NCT ID NCT04239690
First seen Dec 04, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tested whether taking smaller blood samples from extremely preterm babies (born before 27 weeks) could reduce serious health problems like lung disease. The approach aimed to preserve the babies' own blood cells and components. The trial enrolled 201 infants across multiple centers to see if this 'less is more' strategy leads to better development and fewer complications.
