Study finds less blood drawn from tiny preemies may mean healthier lungs

NCT ID NCT04239690

Summary

This study tested whether using new, smaller-volume blood sampling methods for extremely premature babies in their first two weeks of life could reduce their risk of serious lung disease. Researchers compared the new 'micro-method' to standard blood draws in 201 infants born before 27 weeks of pregnancy. The goal was to see if losing less of the baby's own blood would lead to better health and fewer complications.
