Strong legs, sharper brain? new study links muscle power to brain activity

NCT ID NCT07575802

First seen May 15, 2026 ยท Last updated May 15, 2026

Summary

This study looked at 256 healthy adults to see if leg muscle strength and power can predict how the brain's prefrontal cortex responds during moderate cycling. Using a machine learning model, researchers measured blood flow changes in the brain with a special light-based technique (fNIRS). The goal was to better understand the connection between physical fitness and brain function, not to test a treatment.
