New stoma technique aims to cut kidney risks in rectal cancer surgery
NCT ID NCT06149741
First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026
Summary
This study tested a new way to create a temporary stoma (a bag on the belly for waste) after rectal cancer surgery. The goal was to see if it causes fewer problems like dehydration and kidney injury compared to the usual method. About 16 adults took part, and their bowel function and quality of life were tracked for a year. The study was stopped early, so results are limited.
