Heart ultrasound could predict hidden stroke risk

NCT ID NCT07224178

First seen Nov 04, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a safe, widely available heart ultrasound test can identify people at high risk for a second stroke when the first stroke had no clear cause. Researchers will measure how well the heart's upper chamber functions in 900 adults who have had a stroke. If the test proves reliable, it could help doctors decide on blood-thinning treatment earlier, without needing invasive heart monitors.
