New hope for kids with rare cancer: could one drug beat the standard?
NCT ID NCT02670707
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tests whether a single chemotherapy drug, cytarabine, works better than the usual two-drug combination (vinblastine/prednisone) for treating Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH), a rare cancer that causes tissue damage. About 124 children and young adults up to age 21 will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments. Researchers will track how long participants stay free of disease worsening, relapse, or death, and also look at genetic markers that might predict response.
