New hope for kids with rare cancer: major trial tests simpler treatment

Summary
This study is testing if a single chemotherapy drug (cytarabine) works as well or better than the current standard two-drug combination (vinblastine/prednisone) for treating Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH), a rare cancer. It will enroll 124 children and young adults up to age 21. Researchers will also see if special PET scans and blood tests can better track the disease and predict treatment success.
