Summary

This study tested whether smelling lavender essential oil for 20 minutes before orthopedic surgery could help patients feel less anxious, stressed, or depressed. 128 adults in Jordan took part, with half inhaling lavender oil and the other half receiving usual care. Results showed that those who used lavender reported lower anxiety, stress, and depression scores, suggesting it may be a simple, safe way to improve emotional well-being before surgery.
