New scan could make liver cancer treatment safer for lungs

NCT ID NCT07476651

Summary

This study is testing a new way to check if a radioactive liver cancer treatment called radioembolization is safe for a patient's lungs. Currently, doctors use a different test particle that can overestimate lung risk and has supply issues. Researchers will give 30 patients a small 'scout dose' of the actual treatment beads and scan them to see if this provides a more accurate safety measurement before delivering the full treatment.
